under the bridge

A smooth finish to this bridge bottom allows for some interesting light play, a real treat for those taking the alternate path.

aeroplane window object

Climbing out to cruising altitude at dusk, some bizarre images and shadows sometimes appear for a very brief time on the bulkhead, this one was photo worthy.

98% of the images posted here are unedited pictures straight from the camera, not even cropped in most cases. This one however had a small amount of doctoring.

disruptions

To close out the 2007 year, I'll be focusing on images that seem to fit the blog title a bit more stringently than some of the previous posts. Washes of color induced by low shutter speeds and an appreciation for the abstract. Photographically, these images aren't overly challenging, point and click with some camera movement, yet they are still fun for me, hope you enjoy them too...

This one is titled: "disruptions"

MTL foosball

just a few minutes before we tracked down the first of many "real" red bull bottles (read: thai red bull) in Montreal, we stopped by someone's studio who had this very nice foosball table setup.

In the middle of Halloween costume pics, this image came about. Celine, just barely peeking out above her computer with the Adobe FLEX2 diagrams behind her.

a day at the county fair (part 1)

George and I hit up the Dade County Fair to shoot potential album covers for his self-titled release 'George Zhen.' Ended up with a huge amount of bizarre carnie culture shots.

welcome spacebrother

as a child, i remember walking outside at night to watch for fast lights passing above in the dark sky... satellites, space shuttles...

my childhood toys made of plastic fostered dreams of adventure in outer space, the foreign real estate so far away and close above.

the album by "Baked Beans" captured my attention, and took me on a mini vacation orbiting a planet... distance... atmosphere... sprinkled with industrial movement, what would it be like as an astro / cosmonaut ?

closing my eye's at hitting play... the visual playground in my head set off on a journey

"...welcome spacebrother...."

recomended listening: baked beans - beam me up scotty ('Recycle or Die' label)

spare parts express

brian, dj and i headed up the mountain in Vail, CO to catch a sunset, this is their reflection from the rented Montero (which for the record was used to haul ass to Vegas and back at 110mph through the Utah desert, awesome). This long trip, driving fast through hours of beautiful desert nothingness had its soundtrack, oh yes.... the very timely Orbital - Middle of Nowhere

kermit the phallus

In July of 1999 I headed west for 2 weeks to visit DJ who was living in Vail. Day one was a trip to the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, Co.. Oh yeah, I brought Kermit the Frog with me (this was the pre-Flat Eric days). Garden of the Gods offers some tremendous rocks, far cooler than anything you'll see in Florida, which if I'm not mistaken, the highest elevation in the state is oh, a whopping 500 ft above sea level.

Anyway, this particular image of Kermit the Frog hanging out on a fence, adorned with local wildflowers(?) really captured the essence of the trip ahead. Of course, the blatantly phallic rock behind him adds quite a bit of character to his blissful expression. Images like these are what Miss Piggy's dreams were made of, no doubt.

drowning over prague

one of my favorite shots. This was taken back in 2000 in Prague high above the city. In front of me was a glass window picking up a wicked reflection of the city below. Behind the glass was my brother making this timeless pose for the camera, unaware of the overall composition he was a part of. The real kicker here is that behind me was a dark column which really picked up Colin's face much better. Couple that with perfect vacation weather, and you've got blog material! ha!

please feel free to leave comments on any posts, I love to hear what you have to say....

and of course no trip is complete without great music, I recommend the classic Global Underground - Prague mixed by Nick Warren.
